7 weeks in, the doc says my collarbone has healed enough to pull the rod out. It wasn't the most pleasant experience, I guess there were some sort of "challenges" in grabbing the rod due to scar tissue and such. I didn't know doctors used tools referred to as "wrenches" on patients (at least live ones), but in the end he got the job done and I now have a really expensive stainless steel reminder to avoid plasticy jibs that've been sun baking all day.
